Taylor’s Eulogy
Taylor (Baker?)

“From a Marion hardware store that sells ‘old stuff,’ I discovered a personal part of the life of one ‘Taylor’ in 30 letters saved securely in an old cigar box. All were composed by Taylor over a four-year courting period to Miss Robbie Frances Gooch of Lancaster, SC. Because this bundle of letters was tied snugly with a thin grosgrain ribbon and wrapped with crumbling tissue paper, these mementos suggest to me that Taylor’s long-distance love led to a successful union.

“Here is who Taylor and Robbie Frances might have been.”

Note: The full quote on the image:  “A boy needs a girl, not just any old girl, but a girl like you – Darling. I have waited a long time – and as the old saying goes – everything comes to him who waits. I thank God I waited. All my love, Your H_ _ _ _ _ _”

NOTE:  IN 'PEE DEE EULOGIES,' THE NUMBERED MAH JONG TILE FOUND IN EACH PRINT WILL DENOTE THE WORK'S PLACE IN THE SERIES.
