Dr. Harding holds a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College (1972), the M.A. in Modern Languages from Mississippi State University (1974), and the Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literature from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (1985). He has been at Francis Marion since 1987 and is the first full-time German professor in the history of FMU. He has also served on various committees and has been a Faculty Senator since the establishment of that group. In May 1999 Dr. Harding was selected by his peers as Distinguished Professor for 1998-99. Married since 1974 to Sara Harding, a teacher of Spanish at West Florence High School, he has two sons, Ted and Stephen. His interests are languages, college football, golf, and he is learning to fly.
