Dr. Joseph James, formerly the Modern Languages department chair, teaches French and Spanish language and literature courses. He received his Ph.D. in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia. His area of specialization is Medieval French literature. Dr. James studied at the Monterrey Language Institute in California and served as a military intelligence officer in Puerto Rico. Today he lives in Florence with his wife, Saleta, a retired teacher from Florence District One and All Saints Elementary School. They have two daughters, Almen and Alston.
