Dr. Whelan received his BA in Arabic from the University of Durham, England and his Ph.D. in English from the University of Exeter, England. He has lived in Germany, Jordan, and Spain. Currently, Dr. Whelan teaches Spanish, world literature, and composition. His research interests include Arabian Nights, Asian and Mesopotanian literature, and folk tales. His wife Olmstead teaches at Briggs Elementary and they have two children, James and Jasmin. In his spare time, Dr. Whelan enjoys traveling, gardening, and telling stories at local schools.
