Foreign Language Credit All beginning university
students who have had two or more units of a foreign language in
high school, who wish to take additional courses in language
at Francis Marion University, may take advanced placement
tests in a language in order to attempt to obtain college credit
for current levels of proficiency.
Mathematics Exemption Examination Students
placed into Math 111/121or Math 112 may attempt a written
exemption exam in these courses. Students who obtain a
passing score will receive three hours of college credit for each
exempted course. The math exemption exam is administered
at the Office of Counseling and Testing and the cost of the
exam is $15.00.
English Composition Exemption Examination
All freshmen are required to have an English placement score on
file either in the Office of Advising and Retention or the Office
of Counseling and Testing. See the description of
"Freshman English" in this catalog for further information on
placement in composition courses. Students may challenge
placement in English 100, 111, or 112 by taking a written
examination before the beginning of the semester. Students who pass
the 112 exemption will receive three hours of credit. The
examination takes two hours and costs $15. Information is
available from the Office of Counseling and Testing.
