MISSION STATEMENT
The School of Business is an integral academic service unit of Francis Marion University. The School of Business functions within the overall mission and purposes of the University. The School works toward the professional education of students in business with the intention of enhancing their ability to think logically, to communicate effectively and to better appreciate the global business environment. The School works to develop in the students, the skills necessary to be effective employees and leaders, with high ethical standards in public and private institutions. The School works to offer quality baccalaureate and MBA degree programs to students primarily from the north eastern region of South Carolina; secondarily, the state; and thirdly, out of state and from abroad.

The faculty of the School is encouraged to utilize the latest technology and to conduct research that supports the School’s emphasis on quality teaching in a small class environment, and in support of the economic development efforts of the community and the region. The School continuously monitors curricula and adapts to maintain relevancy. The School works to provide substantial interaction among students, faculty, and the business community.

The School has a highly qualified faculty committed to sharing the mission of the University and the School, including quality classroom instruction, meaningful research and professional service to the community and the region.

OBJECTIVES
Within this mission, the School of Business recognizes three primary objectives:

1. To provide, through a comprehensive program, broad educational experiences sufficient to prepare students for meaningful and responsive leadership roles in private and/or public institutions.

2. To conduct research appropriate to support the teaching mission of the school and University.

3. To sponsor and conduct service activities that enhance the community's economic and industrial development.

The School of Business is organized into two undergraduate departments.

The Department of Business Administration and Economics offers programs which lead to the following degrees:

Bachelor of Business Administration
Bachelor of Arts in Economics
Bachelor of Science in Economics

The Department of Computer Science offers the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
