Drs. Sitti establish endowed chemistry, physics, biology scholarship
Drs. Sarawadee and Orachun Sitti have pledged $25,000 to the Francis Marion University Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship as part of FMU's Campaign for Excellence, a five-year, $12 million fund-raising drive.
The Drs. Sarawadee and Orachun Sitti Scholarship will be awarded to an FMU student majoring in chemistry, physics or biology. The recipient must be a junior or senior and have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The recipient must hdemonstrate financial need, and repeat awards will be allowed.
The Sittis are originally from Thailand and have a medical practice in Florence. Sarawadee had been in Florence for 20 years and is a nephrologist. Orachunm has been in Florence for 16 years and is a hematologist and oncologist.
The sisters are longtime contributors to FMU's Annual Fund. They came to Florence through their acquaintance with Dr. Sompong Kraikit, a local physician who is also chairman of the FMU Foundation Board of Directors.
